His interests are Centering Prayer, Thomas Merton, the traditions of the early desert mystics of the Christian church, and other dimensions of the Contemplative Christian spiritual tradition. He is the author of five books, most recently Shadow Dancing: Living with the Dark Side (PathBooks, 2009). Heather has university degrees in psychology and education with a focus in special education. After dedicating twenty years to raising and educating her children at home, Heather returned to her childhood roots in the Society of Friends (Quakers) and began a deep exploration of Contemplative Christian spiritual practice. She became a certified trainer of Centering Prayer with Contemplative Outreach and served for five years as the administrator of the Contemplative Society.
